Riders vs. BC: This Won't Be Pretty

You'll have to forgive my lack of a post this week. I've been busy redoing the flooring it my kitchen, hallway and porches. As much as value you my readers, I value having a functioning kitchen a lot more. Please don't take it personally but unless you plan on bringing breakfast or lunch tomorrow, I had better get back to work.

I own't leave you high a dry though so here are my abbreviated thoughts on the game:

BC hasn't lost in 7 games... we haven't scored a touchdown in almost that long. That alone should tell you all you need to know.  I've given up hoping for a win and am now just hoping that a defender tips an errant pass to one of our receivers for a fluke TD. We can't score one by trying so we're left hoping for a fluke.

For reasons I will never understand Durant (broken foot and all) is starting. While I will never question Durant's heart I have to winder why his foot was too bad to start last week but good enough to come in at half and be good enough ever since. Either he is too hurt to play period or he should have been starting last week. Plus it's not like the offense was firing on all cylinders even when he was in.

BC by a lot... hell if they manage to score a TD we might as well just forfeit.... I'm kidding... only mostly.

See you in stands

Funny, I don't feel angry. More like, relieved it's over.

I feel like this season was an aberration. They got off to a bad start and couldn't recover for whatever reason. I expect several changes in the off-season, including personnel purges, I hope Romero gets gone by next week for one. Not much else can be done this season because of salary cap issues. That said I would love to see as many as possible of the practice roster players try out in a live game.

You are right about Miller, though. He can't do multiple jobs well. He's the coach or retired, nothing else will do.

I think the talent level of the league went up this year combined with a deterioration of Rider talent dropped us down the power scale considerably. Successful teams change about a quarter of their players every year. Most teams drop the bottom quarter but the Riders seem to loose the top quarter. Which sucks.

I absolutely love your blog, I'll be following it for a few more years and the off-seasons as well. Thanks for putting in the effort

RONBO Your right about Romero, his temper is a problem, too many stupid undisciplined penalties. Maybe the Rider talent wasn't that good the last couple of years and maybe just maybe Gramps Miller got a lot more out of these guy that he should have?

The Riders definitely didn't recruit very well, the O-line is to old and crappy, the D-line is just to crappy and small, the linebackers are the shits outside of Freeman.

The receivers are slow and too small, they need a new running back, I would question Durant's intellect he seems to play not to loose instead of playing to win. Durant seems to be afraid of making a mistake, he was better when he threw 20 ints in a season.

The Riders have lots of rebuilding to do in the next couple of years. I guess all is right in the CFL, the Riders are back to being the loveable losers.

Guess watermelon sakes are down in Regina

GO SUCK IT GREEN and WHITE (ha ha ha ha) you guys were never elite as previously stated in this blog!!!

Ronbo - I completely agree

LIONS Rule - I agree with you on pretty much everything (especially about Durant playing not to lose).

I still don't agree that the Riders were never elite... how many Grey Cups have the Lions been in in the past 4 years? You can say the Riders weren't elite this year, but to say they were never elite is just wrong

This crew started D3 Goldcontainer heart connected with last year, we were holding simply just fortuitous to visit your glass. All other squads under western culture up-graded and blew at night Biker talent. We'll discover what goes on next year, I do believe Fantuz can secure. Will probably beGuild Wars 2 Gold fascinating to see precisely what adjustments will likely be made.
